This exhibition celebrates the early artists of Puerto Vallarta and from their origin. The common art language of the inhabitants of Puerto Vallarta, it’s a visual compendium of their roots and genealogy, as well as a chronicle of their history and their time. It’s an artistic style whose beginning appeared between the solitude of a rural town and the uniqueness of its people, before opening up to the contact and cultural interchange with other parts of the world. Today, this art has become fundamental to the cultural identity of Vallarta people.
Starting with the early painters of the 1950’s, Ramón Barragán, Daniel Inchaurregui Bernal, Daniel Lechón, Manuel Lepe; 1960’s and 1970’s Javier Niño and Ada Colorina. These artists are some of the earliest cultural documentarians, creators and ambassadors of the characteristic Puerto Vallarta style.
This exhibition represents the beginning of many Art Vallarta Museo events and exhibitions, to document and preserve the cultural heritage of the City and the colorful and International roots of it´s Art.
One of the earliest know paintings of the Puerto Vallarta main plaza. Painted by Ramón Barragán in 1958.
