ARTe VallARTa Museo
LOADING

I work in clay, primarily hand built sculpture, but at times larger
installations such as murals. I started my art journey after I retired and I
immediately found a passion for clay. While I can’t draw well, I seem to be
able to feel the dimensions of any piece I am working on and strive to give
each of my pieces character.
Much of my inspiration comes from nature and, as such, many of my
pieces are of animals of one type or another. Having spent much of my life
on or near the sea, marine life tends to be a major focus of mine. In some
cases, I try to subtly increase awareness about the increasing stress that
our marine ecosystems are in. In others, I try to have a little fun with the
viewer — I am particularly fond of whimsy.
I split my time between San Juan Island, WA and Puerto Vallarta, MX,
along with a fair amount of travel around the globe. These places provide
lots of ideas for new pieces.
I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I do creating it!
